Purchasing Your Credit Report

The credit bureaus will only send the results of their credit investigations or credit reports to the last known address of the name on the credit report, we respectfully ask that you forward copies of any correspondence from the credit bureaus to us through the mail as soon as you receive them.

Our process relies on the new, revised credit reports. Legacy Legal Services cannot tell what has been effective and where we should go next without seeing the updated information.

Occasionally, once the credit bureau has investigated a challenge, they will neglect sending the revised report to our client. Sometimes the client has forgotten to forward the information to us. In both situations the forward motion of the case is impeded until we are able to obtain the new reports.

The cost of buying your credit report is usually $8.50 each, if you order it directly from the credit bureau. As we said above, it is necessary to have it sent directly to your home. The reports take from two to six weeks to reach you.

Before we will allow your case to slow or stop, we may find it advisable to purchase the reports for you. When we do this, we go through a vendor and the cost is generally $14.00 for each report. There are some advantages to you when we do this. We receive the report right away and are then able to send you the information, showing a simplified credit report and an update of your case with a list of new deletions. As you can see, the small increase in what you spend may be well worth what you get in return.

Rest assured, before we send off any automatic purchase or reports, you will be notified and have the chance to say no.
