Restore Credit
At one point in your life you probably had good credit. But it only takes one mistake to compromise your good standing. For millions of Americans, unfortunately, it doesn't stop at just one mistake. Credit reports with late payments, collection accounts, judgments, or, heaven forbid, a bankruptcy are pretty much blacklisted by creditors, lenders, and even potential employers or landlords. Negative items like these do not have to control your quality of life. It is possible to restore credit.
To restore credit, you must contact the credit bureaus. They are the most likely to remove items from your credit report.
Who are the credit bureaus?
We are an economy based on credit. At times you may feel trapped by the system. Who holds the key to your freedom? Every American consumer is tracked by three major credit bureaus - TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian. Every consumer who has ever applied for a loan or credit of any kind has a credit report on file with the bureaus.
Most consumers do not review their credit files and therefore do not realize that their credit is in jeopardy. The credit bureaus love to prey on people like these. Credit bureaus are very lucrative and have made billions of dollars by making sure the average consumer is ignorant to their right and ability to restore credit.
Why the bureaus do not want you to restore credit:
- Credit bureaus do not want you to have perfect, or even good, credit
- Credit bureaus work side by side with credit lenders, such as mortgage, car, credit cards, even insurance brokers.
- When you have negative information on your credit report, the above companies will charge you higher interest rates. Which of course puts more money in their pocket.
You do not need to stay trapped by companies like these. You can reclaim you financial reputation and legally restore credit.
There are laws to back you up:
The FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) mandates that credit bureaus, and those who furnish information to the bureaus, only list accurate data on credit reports. According to the provisions of this act, if the data cannot be verified as accurate, it must be deleted from the credit report. Again, the credit bureau must obtain adequate proof from the source that provided the data. If they cannot, the negative item must be removed. Another advantage to you is that they only have a limited amount of time to complete the verification process. If the time limit expires, the negative item automatically has to be deleted.
You can do it yourself...
The process to restore credit can be easy, just about anyone can do it provided they know the protocol to follow. Getting results can be the challenging part. Credit bureaus do not like you to restore credit. It is very time consuming and costly for them to verify information. More and more people are discovering they can restore credit which makes life very difficult for the folks at the credit bureaus. They in-turn make life difficult for you. Often they will ignore your letters or implement a variety of stall tactics to intimidate you or frustrate your efforts.
By doing your research you can learn how to combat the bureaus on your own. But it does take time, patience, and perseverance. Or you could leave matters to the experts here at Legacy Legal Services.
